Galt Releases dsNavigator 3.1 at DIA 41st Annual Meeting
Galt Associates, Inc., a leading provider of drug safety and risk management solutions, today announced the unveiling of dsNavigator 3.1, another successful release of their market-leading coding and dictionary management product, during the DIA 41st Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. dsNavigatorTM is a proven, widely adopted web-based application that offers quick and effective coding of drug and event terms. It provides an easy to use, customizable interface for searching, navigating, batch and interactive auto-encoding, as well as dictionary management, combined in a single solution.
dsNavigator 3.1 includes new Stop Word and Adverse Event Algorithms — a powerful revised knowledge base of medical concepts and associations, developed through data mining of MedDRATM and raw verbatim data. Associations allow matching on words with similar meaning. Concepts and associations are assigned weights based on their relevance to searches. This product enhancement improves coding quality and decreases costs, since matches presented to the coder are highly relevant. Recent benchmarking analysis reveals an autoencode rate of 97 percent with dsNavigator 3.1. Furthermore, utilization of this new release resulted in a 17 percent increase in the number of terms that autoencoded to the same preferred term as assigned by a human coder.
The Advanced Reporting Module (ARM), an optional add-on to dsNavigator, is a reporting and analysis tool designed to provide users access to a broad array of coding statistics for effective management of coding workflow.
In the 3.1 release, a powerful new tool for dictionary migration impact analysis has been added to the ARM. The Impact Analysis Report can now generate a spreadsheet that provides valuable features, including:
- Changes that have occurred to the coding assignment that may affect the validity of the coding
- Identification of coding inconsistencies
- Identification of potentially better matches from the newer version of the dictionary
- Recoding integrated with dsNavigator
Impact Analysis is also offered by Galt as a professional service, utilizing our expert resources to undertake a systematic, documented data analysis process on the coding assignments using the two dictionary versions. A thorough review of our client's existing synonym lists, as well as clinical and safety data repositories, is followed by a complete impact analysis and recommendations for handling the changes.
